How to Blow Underwater Air Rings
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
In the heat of the summer we're all looking for reasons to be in the pool. If you can master this stunt, you'll be the center of attention at any pool party!
Steps
- Get yourself flat on your back on the bottom of the pool. Some simple pool weights or a buddy's foot will allow you to rest comfortably without floating back up.
- Position your head on the ground so you are looking straight up at the surface of the water.
- Purse your lips and let out a small puff of air as perfectly straight up as you can. This step will take some practice to get the right feel.
- If you are plugging your nose with your hand, make sure it is well out of the way of the bubble's path. If done just right, the air will draw itself into a vortex and create a perfect ring that will gradually get wider as it approaches the surface.
Tips
- The more still the pool water is, the easier it will be to make the rings, and the prettier they will be as they rise majestically up-ward.
- Try experimenting with the timing of the rings; sometimes the rings will interact with each other, one drawing the other into its vortex.
Warnings
- Never blow air rings in enclosures with dolphins, as they see it as up-staging and will get defensive.
